Welcome to Protein Plus Pilates—Where Protein Is High and Perfection Is Optional

Welcome to Protein Plus Pilates—Where Protein Is High and Perfection Is Optional

If you’ve ever packed a beautiful high-protein lunch with the confidence of a woman who finally has her life together—only to come home exhausted, step over a laundry basket, and wonder whether cheese counts as dinner—you’re among friends.

Welcome to Protein Plus Pilates!

I’m Nicole: a wife, a full-time corporate girlie, a household problem-solver, and a woman trying to take care of herself while still taking care of everything else.

My days start early. I commute to a demanding job working in data and fraud within the petroleum industry, and then I come home to a household that somehow still needs groceries, dinner, clean clothes, attention, and adult supervision.

Somewhere in the middle of all that, I’m also trying to eat enough protein, move my body, protect my peace, and remember where I left my coffee.

Why Protein Plus Pilates?

At my highest weight, I weighed 310 pounds. I’m now around 220 pounds, which means I’ve lost approximately 90 pounds.

That sounds wonderfully neat when written in one sentence. The actual experience has been anything but neat.

My journey has included success, plateaus, frustration, health challenges, fresh starts, and moments when my body seemed to laugh directly at my carefully organized plans.

I also live with lipedema. Because of it, my body may never match society’s idea of “perfect,” regardless of how much weight I lose or how consistently I work.

That can be difficult to accept—but perfection is no longer my goal.

I want to feel stronger. I want to move more comfortably. I want to nourish my body, protect my health, and enjoy my life. I’m learning to appreciate progress even when it doesn’t look like someone else’s carefully filtered before-and-after photograph.

Along the way, two things became especially important to me: protein and Pilates.

Protein helps me create satisfying meals that support my goals without making me feel like I’m surviving on lettuce and sadness. Pilates has helped me see movement as a way to build strength and care for my body—not punishment for something I ate.

And so, Protein Plus Pilates was born.

What Is the Goal of This Site?

This site is for women trying to build healthier lives in the middle of careers, marriages, households, health challenges, responsibilities, and general everyday chaos.

Here, we’re going to talk about:

  • Simple, satisfying, protein-packed recipes
  • Realistic ways to add more protein to everyday meals
  • Approachable Pilates and movement
  • Honest product reviews
  • Weight-loss realities
  • Sustainable habits
  • Motivation without toxic positivity
  • Progress without perfection
  • And the occasional cat-related interruption

I want this to be a place where wellness feels possible—even when life isn’t perfectly organized.

You won’t need a spotless kitchen, an unlimited grocery budget, matching workout clothes, or three uninterrupted hours every morning. You don’t even have to enjoy meal prep.

You just have to be willing to keep trying.

There Is No Judgment Here

Let’s get something straight from the beginning: there is no single correct way to pursue better health.

Maybe you follow a particular way of eating. Maybe you count calories or track protein. Maybe you use a GLP-1 medication. Maybe you’ve chosen weight-loss surgery. Maybe you combine several approaches, or perhaps you’re still figuring out what works.

Those choices are personal. They should be based on your body, health, circumstances, and conversations with qualified healthcare professionals—not the unsolicited opinions of strangers.

No one gets a trophy for taking the hardest route.

At Protein Plus Pilates, you will never be shamed for using the tools available to you. Accepting help does not make your effort less valuable, and your progress does not become less meaningful because your journey looks different.

Healthy is the goal. How you get there is your business.

I’m Not Here to Pretend I Know Everything

I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology and an MBA in project management, but I am not a doctor, registered dietitian, nutritionist, or certified fitness professional.

I’m a woman on her own journey, sharing what she learns along the way.

My psychology background helps me think about behavior, motivation, and why we sometimes know exactly what to do but still struggle to do it. My project-management brain wants to turn every overwhelming goal into smaller, more manageable steps—preferably written in a pink planner.

Think of me as the friend beside you, not an expert lecturing you.

Let’s Figure This Out Together

Some days, wellness may look like a gorgeous protein bowl followed by Pilates.

Other days, it may look like choosing the best available option, walking for ten minutes, and promising yourself that tomorrow is another chance.

Both days count.

This space will be honest, welcoming, useful, occasionally ridiculous, and very pink. We’ll celebrate victories, laugh through the chaos, share what works, and give ourselves grace when things don’t go according to plan.

If that sounds like the kind of wellness community you’ve been looking for, I hope you’ll stay.

Follow along, explore the site, and introduce yourself in the comments. Tell me what you’re working toward—or simply tell me which cat usually interrupts your plans.

Welcome to Protein Plus Pilates.

We’re not chasing perfect. We’re building something healthier, stronger, and more sustainable—one meal, one movement, and one imperfect day at a time.
